Being safe and having fun in the water is an important part of summer and the Camp J experience.
Each day at the pool includes both instructional and recreational swim time. Through the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program, our campers learn at their own pace in a confidence-building environment. All campers are swim tested on their first day of camp to evaluate and place them appropriately in the pool.
We focus on two main aspects of the American Red Cross: Water Safety Education, and the Learn to Swim Program.
Water Safety Education helps prepare children for any situation that can occur in the aquatic environment. Children will be taught how to respond in aquatic emergencies and how to be safe in the water.
Learn to Swim consists of levels that allow for campers to improve their stroke and water safety skills.
Every child participates in a swim test to determine which level best suits the needs of the camper. Our highly-trained and experienced group swim teachers strive to make each child feel capable, smart, and confident in the pool, regardless of initial ability.
